CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Lovers of baseball on Chicago's South Side could be striking out in a few years.

It has been a season to forget for the White Sox, and it appears baseball at Guaranteed Rate Field in Bridgeport could soon be history.

Crain’s Chicago Business reports Team Majority Owner and Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf is thinking of moving the team out of Guaranteed Rate when the lease expires in 2029.

The idea has some teeth, with at least one Chicago developer reportedly preparing a bid and Mayor Johnson planning to meet with Reinsdorf and team leaders about the future.

Rumored plans include moving to a new stadium in Chicago, the suburbs or even Nashville, Tennessee.
