(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The summertime events keep on coming. WBBM Newsradio's Rachel Pierson has this weekend's roundup of festivals and events.

—One of Chicago's largest street festivals is back this summer. Wicker Park Fest celebrates the iconic neighborhood with a great music line-up, local food and plenty of sales at surrounding shops.


—Back by popular demand, Sundays on State kicks off this weekend in the Loop. The free block party shuts down State Street from Madison to Lake Streets with food, drinks, shopping and live entertainment now through Sept. 4.

—Experience two days of delicious eats during Taste of Lincoln Avenue. This year's fest includes dozens of local restaurants bringing their most famous dishes outdoors plus four music stages and a kids carnival.

—Support local small businesses at the Chicago Summer Market for Makers. Located in the historic Artifacts Events, discover more than 80 independent artists and makers specializing in everything from home decor to art, food and fashion.

—Turn your eyes to the skies during the Peotone Hot Air Balloon Festival. Hosted at the Will County Fairgrounds, the high-flying event offers spectacular sights and a chance to ride on a tethered hot air balloon. Stick around after sunset to see the balloons light up the night sky.

—Pedal over to the North Shore for Tour de Pomeroy. Sunday's inaugural event celebrates the Tour de France with a family-friendly bike ride and brunch starts at Buck Russell's in Wilmette and ends at Pomeroy in Winnetka.

—And you can celebrate a summer staple dating back to 1942 during Alpine Fest at Lake Zurich Lions Club. Enjoy three days of carnival rides and entertainment, followed by the Alpine Fest parade down Main Street.
