CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An 11-year-old girl is recovering after Chicago police said she was accidentally shot in South Lawndale Sunday night.
The girl was riding in a car with an adult woman, who was trying to park when a gun went off, according to Chicago police.
Officials said the shooting happened minutes after 9 p.m., near Washtenaw Avenue and 24th Place. The driver reached to move her gun, which was when it accidentally fired and grazed the girl in her torso.
The girl was in good condition when she was taken to the hospital.
Area Four detectives are investigating the shooting.
