Daughter finds parents shot dead inside their Will County home: Sheriff

WILL COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are investigating the deaths of two people in unincorporated New Lenox.

The Will County Sheriff's Office said officers were called to the scene on South Spencer Road Sunday night in New Lenox Sunday night.

The female 9-1-1 caller told dispatchers she had not heard from her parents in several days and had gone to their home to check on them and found her parents dead.

Deputies said the 58-year-old man and 57-year-old woman had been shot.

Investigators said evidence suggests the killing was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

“Tragic events like these can be avoided for those wishing to seek help and assistance regarding domestic violence,” the sheriff’s office said. “If you, or someone you know is facing a domestic violence situation, please call the Groundworks Domestic Violence Hotline at 815-729-1228, the Illinois Domestic Violence Helpline at 877-863-6338, or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-787-SAFE (7233) or online at www.thehotline.org.”
