CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It may be early April, but one western suburb is already looking ahead to summer and fall events and how they may be affected by the pandemic.
With glimmers of hope for more public events given increases in the number of people being vaccinated against COVID-19, the village of Woodridge said it is excitedly planning it’s Fourth of July fireworks and its Oktoberfest celebration in September.
But, due to unknowns regarding COVID restrictions, Woodridge is canceling its annual Jubilee Festival in June.
Park Board President Bill Cohen said that while Woodridge would love to have the Jubilee this year, the health and safety of the community is the main priority.
The last Oktoberfest in Woodridge celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Woodridge Park District and the 60th anniversary of the village itself.
