
WEST DUNDEE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The owner of a popular small business in far northwest suburban Lake in the Hills was killed in a crash Monday.
Tom Yucuis owned Butcher on the Block with his wife Jill. The Kane County Sheriff identified the 69-year-old as the pedestrian who was hit by three cars on Route 31 near Miller Road in West Dundee.
The Daily Herald reported the sheriff’s office said Yucuis was dressed in dark clothing and walking in the southbound lanes of the road at around 6 a.m. when he was hit.
The three drivers stopped to help, and no one has been ticketed.
The meat and deli market has been in business for 25 years and announced it was recently recognized as Hospitality/Food/Entertainment - Business of the Year by the local chamber of commerce.
