Original story — According to the school’s website, West Valley College in Saratoga, California, was placed in lockdown due to a reported armed intruder being seen on campus.

The sheriff’s office advised that everyone stay clear of the area, as their investigation remains ongoing.

The suspect has been described by the school as a “white male seen carrying a long rifle” with a “red Cadillac” spotted in one of the school’s parking lots — Lot 1.

Those on campus are advised to safely leave by foot, not by car, if they can. The school has also told students to hide if they aren’t able to flee, noting that they should “FIGHT if an intruder comes into your hiding place.”

The school also said it would provide notice when the situation has been made safe.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
