Enjoy the bird while you can because Twitter CEO Elon Musk shared early Sunday morning that he was planning on dropping the iconic logo in exchange for an “X.”

“And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” Musk shared on his account.

Musk has not been shy from making changes to the social media site since he purchased it in October of last year for $44 billion.

The change could come quicker than expected, as he said he would like to roll out the new “X” logo as soon as Monday, doing away with the bird once and for all.

Earlier this year, in what was seemingly a prank, Musk changed the bird logo to the doge meme for a couple of days before inevitably going back. However, this latest change doesn’t appear to be a prank or temporary.

Musk shared in a late-night tweet that if someone created a good enough logo, he would make the change “tomorrow.”

After midnight, Musk tweeted a video which he now has pinned to his account, showing the believed to be a new graphic.

The change-up at Twitter comes as the site’s top social media competitor, Meta, launched its text-sharing platform, Threads, earlier this month.

The platform boomed in popularity rather quickly as those who decided to leave Twitter made the leap to the new site. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared that within the first five days, the social media platform had more than 100 million users.

Musk’s actions of late have been described by public relations and marketing experts as a “double-edged sword.”

David Triana from Delight Labs shared with KNX radio that while his online presence may help with his fan base and followers, it also hurts his overall public perception.

“For someone like Elon Musk, who wields so much influence, it could lead people to question whether or not they want Musk being that lead voice in not only space exploration but the automotive industry and running arguably the most influential social media app in the world,” Triana said.
