The Los Angeles Police Department launched an internal investigation after an officer reported that a photo of George Floyd with the words “You take my breath away” in a Valentine-like format was circulated among officers.
LAPD Chief Michel Moore said he was disgusted by the image.
"It's a privilege to be a member of this organization, and it's a privilege that can b e lost," Moore said.
Floyd's words of "I can’t breathe" became a cry of protests across the country following his killing.
The first trial for the officers involved in his death gets underway in Minneapolis on March 8 with former officer Derek Chauvin's jury selection.
Chauvin pressed his knee on Floyd's neck until he died last May 25 near the intersection of 38th and Chicago.
