Hamas has accepted a ceasefire proposal set forth by Egypt and Qatar that could potentially stop the group’s seven-month war with Israel.

The terrorist organization shared the news in a statement on Monday after a weekend of peace talks, Al Jazeera reported.

Hamas said that its leader informed Qatar’s prime minister and Egypt’s intelligence minister that it had agreed to its deal via a phone call.

Israel has yet to comment on the ceasefire proposal, but if it accepts, it could see a stop in fighting.

A Hamas official shared with Al Jazeera that the "ball [is] now in Israel’s court."

This is a breaking story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
