CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A semi truck crashed Wednesday morning on I-94/80 in Hammond, Indiana, causing major delays for commuters.

The rollover crash, which was announced about 6:15 a.m., is blocking three eastbound lanes near Calumet Avenue, Ann Wojas, the Indiana State Police public information officer for the Lowell District, said in a tweet.

Well the semi that has rolled over blocking 3 left lanes east bound at Calumet is hauling syrup which is leaking as is the semi’s diesel fuel. Expect long delays and closure. Seek alternate routes @WGNRadio @WBBMNewsradio @WLPR891 @ABC7Chicago @nbcchicago @cbschicago @TrafficWise
