ComEd Consumer Protection

ComEd. Powering Lives.

At ComEd… safety is one of our top priorities… especially when it comes to our customers!

During this time of year, ComEd sees an increase in reports of scammers… posing as ComEd employees… attempting to steal your money and personal information.

They’ll contact your home or business… threatening to shut off service unless immediate payment is made.

They’ll demand payment through a third-party payment app… like Zelle… Cash App… or Venmo.

That’s because these apps allow for large money transfers… and because these transactions often can’t be reversed!

Here are some tips to help you identify scams:

- ComEd will never call or visit your home or business to demand immediate payment.
- ComEd won’t demand payment by third-party payment app… prepaid cash cards like Green Dot… or QR codes.
- ComEd won’t ask for personal information… like your Social Security number or bank account numbers. For more tips to identify scams… visit ComEd.com/ScamAlert.
