LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) – Bears veteran edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a broken ankle, head coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday.

Ngakoue will require surgery, and the Bears will place him on injured reserve. He suffered the fracture late in the Bears’ 28-13 win against the Lions on Sunday, Eberflus said.

An eight-year NFL veteran, Ngakoue joined the Bears on a one-year deal in August. He recorded four sacks over 13 games for the team. He’s set to enter free agency this offseason.

The Bears now anticipate using a rotation opposite of edge rusher Montez Sweat, with veteran pass rusher DeMarcus Walker expected to step into a larger role. Dominique Robinson, Rasheem Green and Khalid Kareem could also receive increased reps.

“It’s really important for those guys to lean into the opportunity," Eberflus said.

The Bears will release their full injury report following practice Wednesday afternoon. The Bears (5-8) visit the Browns (8-5) on Sunday in Cleveland.
