Jim McMahon calls Packers 'the best organization' he ever played for

This one stings a little in Chicago.

(670 The Score) When it comes to quarterbacks, Bears fans are a pretty calloused bunch. Inadequate performances for 101 years -- not to mention the unceremonious ending of "Very Cavallari" -- will leave a mark on even the brightest optimist. At this point, I’d say the only comment that could hurt them would be, say, their only Super Bowl-winning quarterback publicly saying, I don’t know, that he enjoyed playing for the Packers more than the Bears.

So, of course, that’s exactly what happened. In a recent interview with 1252 Sports, former Chicago quarterback Jim McMahon, who helped lead the 1985 Bears to a championship, briefly talked about the best organization he ever played for. Remember, no one’s making you read this.

“(Green Bay) was the best team, or the best organization, that I’ve played for of the seven teams I’ve played for,” McMahon said. “By far. From top to bottom, it was great people.”

It's worth noting that McMahon completed exactly four (4) passes for the Packers during the two seasons he spent in Green Bay (1995-'96) before retiring. Does that really have anything to do with Green Bay’s organization as a whole? It doesn’t; I’m just trying to help. Also, this is the same McMahon who wore a Bears jersey to the White House when he visited as a member of the Packers in 1997, so there’s probably a little bit of trolling going on here.

And if you can believe it, McMahon wasn’t done there. According to him, Chicago is where “quarterbacks go to die” -- an especially unfortunate coincidence considering that it’s also, apparently, where wide receivers go to die too. In fact, McMahon is so over the Bears that he’s quite probably the only person in the greater Chicagoland area who doesn’t have a strong opinion about how the team should approach the NFL Draft in a couple weeks.

“I don’t know, don’t watch them, don’t care,” he said. “I wouldn’t know what they need or who they’re thinking of drafting.”

You know what they need, Jim. We all know what they need.
