LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — With the exception of left guard Teven Jenkins, the Bears are in good health ahead of their season opener on Sept. 10 against the Packers, coach Matt Eberflus said Tuesday.
Eberflus indicated that Jenkins (leg) is the team's lone player who's dealing with an injury that will cause his status to be in doubt for the opener, as he called Jenkins "week-to-week." Chicago has dealt with injuries during the preseason to key players such as receiver Chase Claypool, right guard Nate Davis, safety Eddie Jackson and safety Jaquan Brisker.
The Bears aren't required to issue their first injury report until next Sept. 6.
"Everything looks good," Eberflus said.
Eberflus has declined to discuss players' injury statuses during the course of training camp and preseason. The Bears also haven't issued updates on players who were injured during preseason games.
Jenkins isn't expected to be ready for the Bears' season opener, and details of his injury remain unclear. He last practiced on Aug. 17 in Westfield, Ind., he and spoke optimistically about his health afterward.
A second-round pick of the Bears in 2021, Jenkins has played in just 19 of a possible 34 games in his career while dealing with multiple injuries.
"I mean, it hopefully shows signs of my wanted durability of myself for the rest of the season," Jenkins said Aug. 17 after completing his most recent practice. "So, as long as I'm staying out here right now through training camp, hopefully it shows positive signs for the rest of the year."
The Bears on Tuesday confirmed their acquisition of interior offensive lineman Dan Feeney, for whom Chicago sent a sixth-round pick to Miami. The team is still exploring how he'll be utilized on the offensive line, Eberflus said.
Veteran offensive lineman Cody Whitehair has shifted between center and left guard during the preseason. Feeney, 29, has experience at both center and guard.
"The versatility in there," Eberflus said of Feeney. "You got an inside guy that you feel can play all spots, backup and can be a good starter. That's really it."
