“The Chicago Blackhawks and Marian Hossa will be postponing Marian’s legacy night to a to-be-announced later date,” the team said in a statement Monday. “After further discussion between (CEO) Danny Wirtz, (president of business operations) Jaime Faulkner and Marian, everyone agreed that this is an important time for our organization to reflect rather than celebrate. Marian and the club’s leadership team all know we must build back our community’s trust as we ensure accountability within our organization following Kyle Beach’s courage in coming forward. Our new leadership team is committed to upholding our values and always working to better this organization and our game as we move forward.

“There is no better embodiment of those values, both off and on the ice, than Marian Hossa, and we congratulate him on his upcoming Hockey Hall of Fame induction.”

Hossa was elected into the Hall of Fame in 2020, but the traditional ceremony to honor inductees wasn’t held due to the pandemic. So those individuals will be inducted with a traditional in-person ceremony this upcoming Nov. 15, and the Blackhawks will also honor him at a home game down the line.

Hossa spent eight of his 17 seasons playing in Chicago, where he helped the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015. He recorded 1,134 points (525 goals, 609 assists) in 1,309 games in his career. Hossa was a five-time All-Star as well.
