Report: Bulls bring back point guard Tre Jones on a 3-year deal

(670 The Score) The Bulls have retained point guard Tre Jones on a three-year contract in free agency, ESPN reported Monday evening.

The deal is worth $24 million million, according to the report. The Bulls acquired the 25-year-old Jones from the Spurs in a trade last February. He produced well down the stretch, averaging 11.5 points and 4.9 assists in 25.3 minutes in 18 games, including nine starts. He shot 57.2% overall and 50.0% on 3-pointers across those 18 games. For his career, Jones has shot 48.8% overall and 31.1% from 3-point range across five NBA seasons.

Jones played his first four-and-a-half NBA seasons in San Antonio, which selected him in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Bulls retained Jones two days after they agreed to trade guard Lonzo Ball to the Cavaliers for wing Isaac Okoro. Jones projects to be the Bulls’ backup point guard, though they’re still sorting out their roster in the coming days and weeks.
