Cubs option Kyle Ryan to Triple-A Iowa as they officially activate Adbert Alzolay

Alzolay is set to start against Cleveland on Monday evening.

(670 The Score) As previously planned, the Cubs activated right-hander Adbert Alzolay from the injured list Monday, when he’s set to start against the Indians at Wrigley Field.

In a corresponding move, Chicago optioned lefty reliever Kyle Ryan to Triple-A Iowa.

Alzolay had been sidelined since June 7 due to a blister on his right middle finger. He’s having a strong season, posting a 4.06 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 11 starts.

Ryan has made three appearances for the Cubs this season, working 2 2/3 innings and allowing one earned run.

First pitch between Chicago and Cleveland is set for 7:05 p.m. Monday. Pregame starts on 670 The Score at 6:30 p.m.
