(104.3 The Score) If Cubs left-hander Justin Steele's health allows him to pitch later this season, it will almost certainly be in a relief role rather than as a starter.
"It's probably unrealistic to think he's going to be fully stretched out at any point," president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Tuesday morning. "If he does help us, I think it's going to be in shorter bursts."
Steele hasn't pitched this season as he's continuing a long rehab process after he had elbow surgery in 2025. In late April, he had a setback in suffering a flexor strain in his left forearm, further delaying a return that was originally mapped out for June.
