(670 The Score) In the aftermath of the White Sox dismissing manager Rick Renteria on Monday, left-hander and veteran leader Dallas Keuchel quickly chimed on social media regarding the team’s future.

“Big things ahead for the #WhiteSox,” Keuchel tweeted.

Keuchel’s tweet came with context that perhaps could matter. Shortly after the White Sox let go of Renteria, speculation stirred that former Houston Astros manager AJ Hinch will be a leading candidate for Chicago’s vacancy. Hinch was suspended for the 2020 season for his role in and negligence regarding the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal when they won the World Series in 2017. Keuchel pitched for the Astros from 2012-’18, playing under Hinch for four of those seasons.

Keuchel signed a three-year deal with the White Sox last December and quickly emerged as a team leader. Among his messages was notably calling out the White Sox for “going through the motions” after a loss to the Tigers in August. The White Sox took off soon afterward.

White Sox ace Lucas Giolito chimed in Monday to show appreciation for the work and leadership of Renteria and pitching coach Don Cooper, who was also let go.
