AKRON, N.Y. (WBEN) - Filming for the movie "A Quiet Place 2" is set to begin in Akron next Monday and there is already changes to Main Street in the village.

Awnings on businesses are covered, storefronts are completely new, the gift shop to Akron Pharmacy was taken over by the movie's crew, and there's been other changes to the familiar area to Akron residents. There's even a sign for a Radioshack, which are few and far between in 2019.

"Overall I'd have to say it's very positive from the standpoint that there's a lot of recognition to the area," Akron Pharmacy and Akron Gift Shop owner Chuck George said. "It's getting our name out there. We're now a wholesaler and they've added a few storefronts that aren't in existence anymore.

While it may seem like a burden having to go through checkpoints to do a routine task, Apholz said she understands why Paramount has these measures in place.

"The pros outweigh the cons," she said. "I think we're finally getting a name here in Akron. I've always loved my town and I just want other people to love it too. I think seeing us on the news and hearing about it on the radio is exciting. It may be a little difficult here and there but I think it's going to be worth it."
