Arrest in Fatal Stabbing

(WBEN)  Buffalo police Saturday arrested a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a woman in the 15th Street residence that they shared.The suspect is identified as 53-year old Jose Eiras Oviedo and he remains under police guard at the Erie County Medical Center.He was charged with murder in the second degree, for the homicide of 57 year old Alina Vega - Lantoron.Early Thursday morning Central District officers and rescue personnel were sent to investigate a double stabbing around 12,:30am, and found the female victim, deceased in the bathroom. The male was rushed to ECMC, where he remains.Homicide Squad detectives under the direction of Sergeant James P. Dunham conducted the investigation leading to the arrest.
