BUFFALO (WBEN) - Amid concerns over coronavirus in New York State, Mayor Brown answered questions regarding any potential cancellation of the Downtown St. Patrick's Day Parade.
"Right now, no decisions have been made not to go forward," said Brown. "We're operating under the assumption right now that we're going forward, but we are evaluating the circumstances, getting constant updates from the state and the county, but right now, we intend on moving forward."
The questions about the parade of course coming on the heels of Ireland and Boston announcing their St. Patrick's Day parades will be canceled. Brown was also asked about what it would take for the downtown parade to be canceled between now and Sunday, March 15.
"I don't think we're necessarily looking at a cancellation based on suspicion," he said. "A confirmed case certainly would put us in the mindset of having to consider cancellations of large public events."
Brown reiterated that there have been no public event cancellations, but he indicated that could change at a moment's notice.
