The project, which began last May, held its traditional "topping off" ceremony. Once the project is complete by the Spring of 2022, it will double the airport's baggage claim capacity, lower congestion at the airport, improve terminal access, widen TSA checkpoints, and improve security.
"We can now start to see the skeleton of the project start to take shape," NFTA Executive Director Kim Minkel said. "Although these are challenging times for travel, we continue to advance this project so that when travel returns to normal, we will have added an additional 54,000 square feet of new space as well as renovating an additional 38,000 of existing space."

July 1, 2020 The eastern end of the complex held its topping off ceremony earlier this year and will finish its expansion by next summer. The western end is expected to be finished by next April.
