Buffalo Police Investigate Two Sunday Shootings

BUFFALO, NY (WBEN) - Buffalo Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened on the City's East Side at the intersection of Lonsdale and Northland in Buffalo.

The shooting took place around 10:30 Sunday night. 

Police say a male suspect was taken to ECMC in serious condition, but is believed to have suffered non-life threatening injuries. Buffalo Police internal affairs and detectives are both investigating the incident, which we are expecting to learn more about this morning.

Buffalo Police released the following statement:
On December 29th, 2019 at approximately 10:40pm, two Northeast District officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle near Lonsdale Road and Northland Avenue. During the course of that traffic stop, the driver, a 30 year old Buffalo male, did exit the vehicle and some type of altercation ensued with the officers, resulting in the suspect being shot.  He was immediately transported to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released.  A gun that is believed to have been in possession of the suspect was recovered at the scene.  The suspect is currently in custody on a separate parole violation and charges are pending in last night's incident. Buffalo police Homicide and Internal Affairs as well as the Erie County District Attorney’s Office are investigating this incident.

Police are also investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning.

Northwest District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the first block of Henrietta Avenue just before 1:10am Sunday.

Police say four people were struck by gunfire.

All four individuals were transported by ambulance to ECMC, where a 26 year old Buffalo male was declared dead.
