BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - City of Buffalo officials said they are ready for the winds and damage that is expected in the region as a result of the high wind warning that is currently in effect.

The high wind warning is in effect for all of Western New York until 1 a.m. Thursday. It could bring wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour.

"There is particular concern about the potential for power outages, tree damages, lake shore flooding around Erie Basin Marina and Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park," Mayor Byron Brown said. "If there is significant wind damage, please call 911 for any emergencies. Examples are a tree on a home, trees blocking the streets, or any storm-related injuries."

Power outages should be reported to National Grid.

Brown also said there will be more police around the entertainment district on Wednesday night due to it being one of the biggest party nights of the year.
