Could Fantasy Island make a comeback?

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WBEN) - Could Fantasy Island make a comeback?

The ownership group for the now-closed park, Apex Parks Group, said they have been discussions with buyers for more than a year. They said more buyers came forward after the announcement last week that Fantasy Island was permanently closed.

"Despite significant effort and a great deal of investment in infrastructure, rides and new themed areas at Fantasy Island Amusement and Water Park in Grand Island, New York, the park’s financial performance has made little improvement," Apex Parks said in a statement.

The company did not address concerns about refunds for season pass holders. New York State Attorney General Letitia James recently inquired about the issue.

Announcement of the park’s closure has sparked interest from new potential buyers and the company is working with Grand Island Supervisor John Whitney, along with other local officials, to help facilitate solutions to permanently closing the park.
