Buffalo, NY (WBEN) After an employee was diagnosed with hepatitis A, Destiny's Restaurant was closed for 48 hours. Now, the owner says he's back open.
Thomas Childs says he voluntarily
shut down the restaurant for 48 hours after he learned an employee was diagnosed with hepatitis A. "We have been around for a long ime, made a lot of contributions to the community. I apologize for the inconvenience," says Childs.
Spokesperson Tracy Jordan Cardwell says now is the time to give the restaurant support. "Too many times when a black-owned business has an issue, instead of coming together to support, unfortunately, we like to tear them down. We need to stop this," says Cardwell.
Councilmember Ulysses Wingo says the business has made an impact. "If you should shut your doors for even 48 hours and the community comes together to let others now you're open, you've made an impact," says Wingo.
