Cheektowaga, N.Y. (WBEN) - As it prepares to transform its St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga to a COVID-19 treatment facility, Catholic Health has closed the emergency department at that facility only.
It is important to note that only the emergency department at the St. Joseph Campus on Harlem Road is closed and that emergency services are available at the Sisters Hospital on Main Street in Buffalo.
The indefinite closure of the Harlem facility is part of Catholic Health’s plans to convert the hospital into a complete COVID-19 treatment facility. The hospital is still in the planning stages for this conversion and not prepared accept COVID-19 patients at this time.
Local EMS providers have been notified of this change. Individuals with medical emergencies are asked not to go to St. Joseph Campus. They should call 9-1-1 or go to their nearest open emergency department.
