BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - With over a foot expected through most parts of Erie County, officials said they're prepared for whatever mother nature throws their way.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said that plow crews are expected to handle the eight to twelve inches of snow, but noted that the wind chills of -15 degrees may play the biggest factor in what could be a dangerous weekend.

"We are prepared," he said. "That is a storm we can handle."

The National Weather Service currently has a winter storm warning that remains in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.

A new plow for each of the five districts was implemented this year at a cost of $250,000. The county will also have other equipment on hand to battle the elements.

A code blue was issued for all people who are homeless for this weekend.
