TONAWANDA (WBEN) - Town of Tonawanda Police and the FBI held a press conference Friday afternoon to announce an increased award for information regarding the murder of Danielle Cretacci.
Cretacci and her two daughters, aged 8 and 11, were shot in the early morning hours of August 27 in her Ebling Avenue home. The children are now in good condition and living with family, but Cretacci succumbed to her injuries in what's believed to be a targeted shooting.
Acting Tonawanda Police Chief Jim Stauffiger spoke Friday, saying any extra help that will lead law enforcement to the killer is beneficial.
"I can confidently say that this murderer is, in fact, a dangerous individual," answered Stauffiger, when asked how they know the community is in no immediate danger. "Now, in regard to this investigation, as I mentioned before, that this murder was, in fact, a targeted murder - there's no doubt in my mind."
The total reward right now is up to $25,000 - $7,500 through Crimestoppers, and $17,500 through the FBI.
"We just want to get this out to the public, and any information, no matter how big or small it may be, we're actually highly encouraging people to come forward to contact us," he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 879-6606.
