
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Buffalo man facing federal charges escaped from the VA Medical Center in Buffalo sometime Saturday was taken back into custody Sunday afternoon.
54-year-old, James Timpanaro was arrested back in November of 2018 after he allegedly planted fake pipe bombs at two South Buffalo locations, a post office and a police station. Following his arrest, Timpanaro was ordered to the psychiatric ward of the VA while he awaited trial. Sometime on Saturday, Timpanaro left the facility on Bailey Avenue. A new arrest warrant was drawn up and he was later taken back into custody.
The arrest was announced by the U. S. Attorney's office: “U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. wishes to commend the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force, operated by U.S. Marshall Charles Salina. At approximately 3:00 pm, Marshal Salina notified Mr. Kennedy that defendant James Timpanaro was taken into custody on Dodge Street in the City of Buffalo. The fugitive task force acted unbelievably quickly in apprehending the defendant and members are to be commended for their efforts in locating the defendant.”
