Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The flood threat continues across parts of Western New York and has been of particular concern throughout southern Erie County. Numerous trouble spots have been reported in West Seneca, Evans and the Town of Boston. A winter weather advisory takes effect Wednesday.
A Flood Warning remains posted for central-southern Erie County through Wednesday morning while a Flood Watch for ALL of WNY is in place through late Tuesday.
Flood Warning for...East central Erie County in western New York...* Until 445 AM EST Wednesday.* At 430 PM EST, local officials have reported several ice jams inplace, including Cazenovia Creek and Buffalo Creek. The mostsignificant ins along Buffalo Creek near West Seneca where watersbehind an ice jam have resulted in localized flooding which hasimpacted several structures along School Street. Water levelsbehind this ice jam have been relatively steady. Ice jams may alsodevelop near the Stevenson Street bridge.Ice jam formation and break up is difficult to predict, and ice maybreak up but then reform new ice jams downstream. For this reason itis important not to focus on specific gauge levels. Flows along theCazenovia and Buffalo Creeks are expected to gradually diminishtoday, which will eventually allow water levels behind existing icejams to fall with time.Some locations that will experience flooding include...
