The first program is a five-year grant Center for Resolution and Justice at Child & Family Services in Buffalo.

"Unless you've been a victim of a crime, you are not aware of the (numerous) issues that now encounter you - not just your own personal healing, the emotional scars, the physical abuse, perhaps - but also having to deal with a number of issues related to your housing, your children, your family, your legal rights," said Hochul.

This program will also help serve individuals in Genesee and Niagara, as well as Erie County, and it will be a total of $4.3 million over five years, which is part of an $81 million statewide program to administer other programs across the state.

The second program is the expansion of the New York Crime Victims Legal Help, which is a website and tool for victims.

"A lot of people don't have the ability to walk into a center or downtown area, maybe in more remote areas, and they have the ability to go to a website," said Hochul. "It helps them learn about their rights, resources and how to obtain assistance."
