Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A federal jury has found Buffalo Police Officer Corey Krug not guilty in a case of civil rights violations.
Krug was accused of violating the civil rights of a man by using excessive force back in November 2014. TV video showed Krug shoving a man to the ground then hitting him with a baton.
A jury in February acquitted Krug of three of four counts, not being able to reach a verdict on the fourth. US Attorney JP Kennedy pursued a re-trial on that fourth charge.
“We respect the result because it was the product of a fair process designed and undertaken in order to ensure that all people receive equal treatment under the law. A jury of Officer Krug’s peers evaluated the evidence, including the video of the incident, and determined that no violation of federal law occurred,” says Kennedy in a statement.
