Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Another flooding threat for property owners along the Lake Ontario shoreline this week as a Lakeshore Flood Warning is posted late Monday through Tuesday. The combination of record high lake levels and winds from the west to northwest has forecasters concerned about further threats to the shoreline.
LAKESHORE FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO2 PM EDT TUESDAY...The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a LakeshoreFlood Warning, which is in effect from 11 PM this evening to 2 PMEDT Tuesday. The Lakeshore Flood Watch is no longer in effect.* LOCATIONS...Niagara and Orleans counties.* LAKE SHORE FLOODING...The combination of record high lakelevels and moderately strong west to northwest winds willresult in greater wave action and an increase in lakeshoreflooding on the shoreline of Lake Ontario.* TIMING...From 11 PM this evening to 2 PM EDT Tuesday.* IMPACTS...Lakeshore flooding may increase, especially in bays,inlets, and other low lying areas along the shoreline. Waveaction will produce an increase in shoreline erosion.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...A Lakeshore Flood Warning means lakeshore flooding is occurring,is imminent, or is expected to occur. People in the warning areashould take immediate action to protect life and property.
