ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WBEN) – The return of the NFL season is a welcoming relief for most Western New Yorkers but local leaders are concerned about people defying rules about mass gatherings this weekend, specifically those looking to tailgate before Sunday’s game at Bills Stadium.
“Private lot owners, if they decide to do it…you run the risk of not only having a health inspector come out and shut down tailgating but you run the risk of getting a big fine,” Poloncarz said. “Maybe you let 100 cars in and charge them $10. Great. You made $1,000. You may pay more in a fine.”
To clearify. Some people are looking for a place to protest the mandate against tailgating near the stadium. Business zone properties have to get permit issued by Orchard Park who have not issued any. Residential zone do not. Gathering of over 50 people is illegal per Cuomo.

September 5, 2020 Poloncarz encourages people to watch the game at home and even have a private party with friends and family.
“I don’t know why anyone would protest when the football game is on,” Poloncarz said. “I’d rather watch the football game. It’s going to be on TV. Watch it.”
There will be additional proactive restrictions to try and discourage people from congregating outside of the stadium. Poloncarz would not say what those restrictions are.
County-owned lots will be closed on Sunday.
