Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Nichols School student was found to have been in possession of an unloaded handgun at the school Monday, with ammunition nearby.
The school, through spokesperson Jesse Baier, released the following statement:
"An individual came forward this afternoon to tell school officials that an Upper School student had brought a handgun onto campus. A search was immediately conducted and an unloaded handgun was found, though bullets were nearby. The handgun was secured, the student was detained at once and Buffalo Police were called. The student is no longer enrolled at Nichols School. All further inquiries should be directed to the Buffalo Police."
The identity of the former student was not released and Buffalo Police have released no additional details.
