Correction: Our initial story said there would be no remote learning for children in grades K-through-4 at Williamsville Schools. This is incorrect. There will be no live-stream of classes in session. We have corrected the mistake and regret the error.

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WBEN) - Students at Williamsville Schools between Kindergarten and fourth grade will not have a live stream of the instruction, though virtual learning will still take place.

"This was something that had come up as a concern and it's something that child care challenges get in the way of this," Williamsville Superintendent Dr. Scott Martzloff said during Friday night's board meeting. "For elementary students in grade K-through-4, it's very difficult for a child to be in a child care setting and log in and be part of the instruction going on in the classroom."

Students will receive virtual instruction from a teacher within the district. In the hybrid model, students will receive virtual instruction and assignments from their teachers on Wednesday. During the days that students are not physically in school, teachers will provide digital resources that students will access in addition to teacher-provided assignments and other work.

One parent even called for Martzloff to be removed as superintendent over a lack of communication, and "disrespect" to teachers and parents.

Erie 1 BOCES will also not be used as an online education provider.

Parents will have until Wednesday to choose whether or not they want full, online instruction.
