Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Controversy brewing over a proposed second Chick-Fil-A in Western New York.

The NFTA says it's revamping the food court at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, with Chick-Fil-A set to be the anchor attraction. The plan though, is running in to opposition.

"The problem with Chick-Fil-A is that they have a long history of supporting anti gay and LGBT organizations and policies," said Assemblyman Sean Ryan. "We're not happy about the NFTA choosing to do business with a corporation that funds hateful and divisive groups."

Ryan points specifically to a $1.6 Million donation the Chick-Fil-A Foundation gave to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

The Assemblyman said that typically it should be up to consumers to decide whether or not they see a problem, but this scenario is different.

"Certainly in a private setting, 100%," Ryan Said. "Chick-Fil-A recently opened a store on a private property. Once you come in to do a lease with a governmental entity, that's a different story."

A similar situation is bubbling in Texas, where the San Antonio City Council voted last week to block Chick-fil-A from getting a new concession contract at the airport. Texas' attorney general yesterday opened an investigation into that decision.
