Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Rath Building, at 95 Franklin Street in downtown Buffalo, is closed Monday after a major water break.

Employees who normally report to work at the Rath Building are asked not to report to work other than essential employees of the county’s Department of Public Works. In addition, previously scheduled appointments for members of the general public with any departments based inside the building are canceled and will have to be rescheduled at a later date.

"This is probably the biggest squirt gun that anyone is going to see today," quipped Poloncarz, in a reference to Dyngus Day.

It's expected the Rath Building will be closed all day Monday.

A description of what happened at the Rath Building today: a gasket on one of our main heating and cooling units on the 5th floor burst. It is serviced by an 18" water line. The Rath Building is closed today for cleanup. pic.twitter.com/y4nXEwEEVY
