Buffalo, NY (WBEN) State Senator Rob Ortt has dropped out of the race to replace Chris Collins in NY27. His office says he'll focus on a re-election bid to the State Senate.
Ortt sought the Republican nomination, but the endorsement went to fellow State Senator Chris Jacobs.
Collins resigned last year after pleading guilty to insider trading.
Nate McMurray is expected to be the Democratic nominee for the April 28th special election.
Jacobs issued the following statement:
“I want to thank Rob for his hard work and dedication to the Party and the people of Western New York. It has been an honor serving alongside him in the New York State Senate and he has always conducted himself with the highest degree of professionalism and has always been a true fighter for the needs of his constituents. I have no doubt he will continue to serve the people of Western New York with steadfast dedication and honor.”
