Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Officials at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center say they expect to be one of the six additional sites statewide that will do rapid laboratory testing for COVID-19.

On Saturday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a state of emergency due to the virus and called for expanded testing statewide.

Officials say they will be following New York State Department of Health and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocols for rapid molecular analysis of swabbed cells.

The swabs are not infectious and pose no risk to patients at the cancer center or to the public. No one who is symptomatic or suspected of possibly having the virus will be coming to Roswell for the purpose of testing.
