(WBEN) Buffalo's Gay Pride Week and Festival kicked-off Sunday with a parade down Elmwood Avenue to Allen Street. Over 150 local organizations took part.
According to the organization "Led by Gay and Lesbian Youth Services of Western New York, more than 150 organizations marched in the Pride Parade. To honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, the Parade theme was "Keep Making History" to give participants the opportunity to express what this historic event means to them. The Pride Festival took place at Canalside following the Parade and featured more than 50 community organizations, an interactive area for kids, food and live performances.
Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul was in town to attend the parade. Governor Cuomo will be marched in New York City.
