Buffalo, NY (WBEN) One area that saw a decrease in funding in the 2019 state budget is Special Olympics. The organization is getting $50,000 less this year.
Funding goes toward the Unified Champions program. "We have 145 Unified Champion schools across the state, where we work with students to build an inclusive curriculum that teaches and gives students opportunities to do activities together throughout the year," explains Hengsterman. "There's a high demand for it, and not having the full $200,000 hurts our ability to meet demand and grow the program."
