BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Waterfront Elementary hosted state officials on Thursday to highlight New York's "Farm-to-Schools" program.
The program focuses on connecting schools to local farms to provide healthy lunches to students and bring attention to the agriculture community. Fresh vegetables and fruits are grown locally and given to schools across the state.
Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball expressed gratitude to the Farm to School Program as well as the "No Student Goes Hungry" initiative saying "we are literally changing the way we have school lunch".
