BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Most drivers in the City of Buffalo are accustomed to the travel detours caused by the construction on the Skyway, but there's been some issues lately on Church Street in the city.
City of Buffalo Spokesperson Mike DeGeorge explained to WBEN that the city removed the electronic sensors because of the paving and milling project on Delaware Avenue by Church Street. Because those sensors are weather sensitive, they cannot be installed until there is a dry period in the City of Buffalo. That project is expected to be finished this week.
Despite the issue on Church Street, Skyway construction hasn't caused too much congestion on morning and afternoon commutes.
"It has been going pretty smoothly as far as we can see," Hutchins said. "It's not causing a lot of backups in other areas."
She said the largest source of problems is that the Skyway on-ramp from the 190-S remains closed and will be for the construction season. Hutchins said following the detours typically add a couple of minutes to the morning or afternoon commute.
