Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - The New York State Department of Health is making Bills fans shout as they spread the official word that Highmark Stadium is cleared to operate at 100% without restrictions.
In a statement to WBEN late Tuesday, a spokesperson from the Department of Health said, "Highmark Stadium is considered an outdoor venue which can operate at full, 100% capacity without restrictions."
"As announced by Governor Cuomo today, the State's mandatory COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted coinciding with 70% of adult New Yorkers having been vaccinated, except masks remain required for unvaccinated individuals pursuant to CDC guidelines. Indoor event venues with a capacity greater than 5,000 must also continue to follow the State's guidance until more New Yorkers are vaccinated," the statement reads.
The Buffalo Bills have released no official statement on the new guidance. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz has for months said that he will require anyone who wants to go to a game to show proof of vaccination. Under the state's new rules, that would not be required to get to 100% capacity.
