Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550/WBEN) – It’s now official: The Buffalo Sabres will be starting the 2024-25 regular season in Czechia, playing two games back-to-back against the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 4 and 5 in Prague at O2 Arena.
Before playing those two games in Czechia, the Sabres will go to Munich, Germany to finish up the preseason with a Sept. 27 exhibition game against Red Bull Munich of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
Tickets for the games in Czechia will go on sale on Thursday, March 21 at 10 a.m. CET (Central European Time).
This isn’t the first time the Sabres have started a season in Europe.
Back in 2011, Buffalo played the Ducks in Helsinki, Finland, beating Anaheim by a 4-1 score. The Sabres then traveled to Berlin, Germany the next day and beat the Los Angeles Kings, 4-2.
Then in 2019, the Sabres played two back-to-back games in Stockholm, Sweden against the Tampa Bay Lightning in November. Buffalo lost both of those games at Ericsson Globe Arena.
