'More of the same' may be the best way to characterize the weather for the Buffalo-Niagara region for the Sabres-Canadiens game 2 and weekend ahead, National Weather Service forecasters say.
Sabres fans dreaming of a game 2 win will be happy to hear that the Friday morning showers will only be a memory by game time when thousands will gather at the Party in the Plaza and Canalside watch party in downtown Buffalo.
"We'll have a dry afternoon and evening," NWS meteorologist Jon Hitchcock tells WBEN. "Still on the cool side. It'll be low 50's at puck drop, falling back into the 40's after sunset...but overall not a bad evening."

For the weekend ahead, again it appears to be 'more of the same'.
"It stays cool and unsettled," Hitchcock notes. "No day is going to be a washout, there will still be a few showers around. Most of the rain will fall Saturday night."
Conditions will be a little bit warmer Saturday, with highs in the low to mid 60's, and highs Mothers Day Sunday will be in the mid 50's, with some spotty showers remaining in the forecast.
Warmup in sight?
"Not in the near term," Hitchcock says. "There is some hope as we head into the third week in May, so about 10 days or so away, we should start to see a warmer pattern...so there is some light on the distant horizon, but the next week to 10 days will still be on the cool side."
